The Second Law
The arrow from which everything flows
ΔS ≥ 0
Entropy of an isolated system never decreases
LOW ENTROPY
Ordered, concentrated
Few microstates
HIGH ENTROPY
Dispersed, equilibrium
Many microstates
Low entropy (order)
S (box) = 0%
High entropy (disorder)
S measures how far the particles have wandered from their starting grid, time-averaged and scaled so 100% is the equilibrium spread. With only 40 particles it jitters in both directions: the Second Law states an overwhelming statistical tendency, not a promise about every instant.
Particles spreading... entropy increasing
WHAT THE SECOND LAW ESTABLISHES
- • The arrow of time — past differs from future
- • Irreversibility — some changes cannot be undone
- • The drive to spread — energy disperses, differences equilibrate
Everything in The Deeper Law begins here. This is the one law from which structure, life, and coordination emerge.
