The optimal trust zone requires both high symmetry and high optionality.
Systems with only one collapse to rigidity or fluidity; systems with neither are brittle. The placements are worked examples of that argument, not survey data.

Both panels are conceptual. Panel A places example systems by hand on two analogical axes; symmetry and optionality are Noether-style charges in this book, suggestive consequences of the analogy rather than quantities with a measurement procedure, so no point here is an observation and the boundary curve is drawn, not fitted. Panel B is a schematic of a prediction, not a plot of results: the programme has measured the framing signature's direction on several architectures but no single comparable per-architecture score, so the bars are unnamed and unlabeled. The chapter's measured cross-architecture results are in its own tables and figures.
